You might be the kind of person who gets all their Christmas stuff together ahead of time. I usually do with presents, but sometimes I put off stockings until the last minute.
If you’re like me and don’t have time to order things online or live in a more rural place with limited nearby stores, then I suggest trying out your local Dollar General! I wandered the store recently to see what they had and found more than 20 great stocking stuffer ideas, almost all under $10.
Dollar General Stocking Stuffer Ideas
There were many other options that would work for stocking stuffers, but here are all the ones that caught me eye. Remember that even local stores might have different offerings, so these things might not all be available at the store closest to you.
Gift cards
I found not only gift cards to Dollar General, but also gift cards to a variety of other stores and restaurants. While you can usually print out gift certificates online, I love giving an actual card.
Beauty supplies
Most of these items were only a few dollars each and are the perfect size to stuff in a stocking!
Travel toiletries
From toothpaste to shampoo to shaving cream, Dollar General has tons of mini toiletry items.
Batteries
This is a great stocking stuffer idea if you know the recipient is getting an item under the tree that needs batteries!
Games
While many games are too big for a stocking, my store had several versions of Apples to Apples that would totally fit in a stocking!
Christmas trinkets
If you want to stick with the Christmas theme, there were lots of little things that were Christmas or winter related that would be perfect for a stocking.
Energy drinks
These little bottles are the perfect size for stockings, and at only $1 each, very affordable!
Candy-filled candy canes
These are one of my favorite stocking stuffer ideas from any store, and Dollar General had plenty of different candy options.
Kitchen tools
If you’re filling the stocking of someone who loves to cook, then these kitchen items would be a wonderful idea.
Small candles
Dollar General had candles in a variety of sizes, many of which would fit inside a stocking.
Regular candy
If the Christmas candy doesn’t jump out, DG also sells lots of other candy at a very low regular price.
Small coffee drinks
These iced coffees looked delicious and would be a great stocking stuffer for someone who loves coffee.
Travel wipes
Even when we’re not in cold and flu season, who can’t benefit from a little package of disinfecting wipes?
Car air fresheners
Speaking of travel, how about sticking a few of these in a stocking?
Writing utensils
I have plenty of colored pens, but I’d still love to have some more of these in my stocking.
Coloring books
Dollar General has a huge selection of both kids’ coloring books as well as more complicated adult coloring books.
Small Play-Doh sets
Any kid would love these little sets in their stocking!
Hot Wheels cars
At only $1 each, you could fit several of these in each stocking of a car-loving kid.
Nuts
This is something my mom always puts in the stockings of her adult kids.
Jerky
Another consumable that’s perfect for stocking stuffers, and DG offers them in a variety of flavors.
Electronics accessories
There is a big selection of charging cables, headphones, and other electronics accessories. I love stocking stuffer ideas for things that often get lost or broken!
