We all know someone that has food allergies these days.  One of the largest amongst our friends is dairy allergies, so I always have a non-dairy butter on hand for cooking when they are coming over to play.  We recently came across Pure Blends, a new vegan plant based butter made with oils like avocado and coconut.  Since I already like cooking with oils that aren’t always corn based, I thought we would try it out.

Pure Blends is smooth and creamy just like traditional butter.  It has no artificial preservatives or flavors and comes in two varieties. For me both the avocado oil and coconut oil butter were perfect! The flavors of avocado do come across in the avocado oil butter (which I was hoping it would), but I couldn’t taste the coconut at all.

While I know their goal is probably for you to only use them in healthy meals… we have routinely used the coconut oil butter to make rice krispy treats that are allergy friendly (gluten and dairy free).  I’ve used the avocado oil butter on toast with tomatoes and basil, to saute vegetables and many other dishes.

Try this grilled cheese with tomato and avocado!

Head to Publix stores (find a store near you) to grab Pure Blends Plant Based Butter.  Also make sure to load a Publix digital coupon for $1.50 off so you can save on your first container.
